Job Title: Fire Door Carpenter
Location:
NW9, North West London (Full-Time, Site-Based)
Salary:
Competitive (Dependent on Experience)
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Fire Door Carpenter to join a large residential development based in NW9. This is a full-time, site-based role focused on carrying out remedial works, repairs, and maintenance to fire doors across a substantial development containing approximately 2,500 fire doors.
This is a hands-on position suited to someone who is comfortable working in a reactive environment rather than following a strict daily workflow. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the development’s fire doors remain compliant and maintained to the highest safety standards.
There is also a strong opportunity to grow this function over time, with the potential to build and lead a small team as the fire door maintenance programme expands.
Key Responsibilities
· Carry out reactive repairs and remedial works to fire doors across the development.
· Diagnose faults and compliance issues with existing fire doors and associated components.
· Complete works such as door adjustments, closer replacements, hinge replacements, intumescent strip repairs, seals, and hardware upgrades.
· Ensure all works comply with current fire safety regulations and fire door standards.
· Maintain accurate records of repairs and completed works where required.
· Work closely with the on-site management team to prioritise urgent repairs and compliance matters.
· Conduct inspections and identify potential issues before they escalate into larger remedial works.
· Support the long-term fire door maintenance strategy for the development.
Requirements
· Proven experience working as a carpenter with fire doors.
· Strong knowledge of fire door regulations, compliance standards, and remedial works.
· Experience carrying out fire door repairs, adjustments, and component replacements.
· Ability to work independently on-site and manage reactive workloads.
· Practical problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
· Relevant carpentry qualifications or NVQ (very desirable).
· FIRAS, BM TRADA, or similar accreditation (very desirable but not essential).
Personal Attributes
· Comfortable working in a reactive maintenance environment where tasks may change daily.
· Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise repairs effectively.
· Professional and approachable when working within a live residential development.
· Motivated by the opportunity to develop and grow a team in the future.
