We're partnering with a leading organisation operating across defence, national security and technology to appoint an experienced Delivery Manager to lead the successful delivery of complex, mission-critical programmes.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused delivery professional to take ownership of high-impact projects, working closely with technical specialists, senior stakeholders and customers to drive project performance, operational excellence and successful business outcomes.

We're particularly interested in candidates with experience delivering projects within complex technical, defence, government, cyber or other highly regulated environments, where effective project leadership and commercial management are essential to success.

The Opportunity

As a Delivery Manager, you'll provide project leadership across medium-scale, high-impact programmes, ensuring successful delivery against agreed timelines, budgets and quality standards.

This is a hands-on leadership role, combining project management, financial oversight, stakeholder engagement and team development. You'll work collaboratively across technical and commercial teams, proactively managing delivery risks, improving processes and maintaining strong customer relationships.

You'll have the autonomy to influence delivery strategy, drive continuous improvement and contribute to business growth while supporting programmes that deliver critical national security and defence capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

You'll play a key role in driving successful project delivery by:

  • Leading medium-scale projects, ensuring delivery against agreed milestones, budgets and quality standards.

  • Managing project financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, profitability and commercial oversight.

  • Building, motivating and developing high-performing delivery teams, encouraging collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.

  • Overseeing project governance, including planning, reporting, risk, assumption, issue and dependency (RAID) management and change control.

  • Working closely with customers, technical specialists and senior stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.

  • Managing project risks and delivery challenges, implementing proactive measures to maintain project performance.

  • Supporting business growth by identifying commercial opportunities, contributing to account development and strengthening customer relationships.

  • Applying Agile, Lean and project management best practices to improve operational efficiency and delivery outcomes.

About You

You'll be an experienced delivery professional with strong project management capabilities, commercial awareness and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams within complex environments.

You'll also have:

  • Proven experience leading projects or programmes within complex technical, defence, government, cyber, engineering or secure environments.

  • Strong project management expertise, including planning, governance, risk management, financial oversight and resource coordination.

  • Experience managing project budgets, forecasting, commercial performance and contractual commitments.

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage and influence customers, senior leadership and internal teams.

  • Experience using Microsoft Office, Jira, Confluence, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams or similar project delivery tools.

  • Knowledge of Agile, Lean, Scrum or related delivery methodologies.

  • Strong leadership, communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.

  • A proactive, commercially minded approach to managing delivery challenges and driving continuous improvement.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience delivering projects within UK Government, defence, national security or other highly regulated sectors.

  • Understanding of Fixed Price and Time & Materials commercial contract models.

  • Experience coaching and developing teams and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Relevant project management qualifications, such as PRINCE2, AgilePM, APM, PMP, Scrum Master or equivalent.

Due to the nature of the programmes involved, applicants must be UK citizens and currently hold the highest level of UK Government security clearance.

Why Apply?

This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of complex, high-impact programmes within a specialist technical environment, working alongside experienced professionals to deliver solutions supporting critical national security and defence objectives.

You'll benefit from a collaborative working environment, the opportunity to influence delivery strategy and access to professional development programmes designed to support your continued career progression.

In return, you'll benefit from:

  • Competitive salary of £63,300 – £94,900 per annum.

  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements.

  • Compressed fortnight working pattern, including every other Friday off where applicable.

  • Private healthcare and dental cover.

  • Life assurance and a competitive pension scheme.

  • Annual performance incentive programme.

  • Professional development, mentoring and career progression opportunities.
