We are seeking a proactive and detail‑oriented Data Privacy Specialist to join our growing Data Privacy team. In this role, you will work closely with the Information Governance project to strengthen our enterprise‑wide approach to data lifecycle management, compliance, and responsible data stewardship.
This position is ideal for someone passionate about data governance, regulatory compliance, and building processes that help the business manage data responsibly and effectively. Key Responsibilities
Data Retention Use Cases
- Build roadmap to design and implement scanning across Royal Mails business domains
- Develop and refine data retention rules/use cases, across Royal Mails business domains.
- Partner with Privacy, business and technical teams to ensure retention requirements align with legal, regulatory, and operational needs.
- Deliver training to business users on data lifecycle management, helping them understand why data cannot be retained indefinitely and what technical controls support those policies.
- Promote understanding of data privacy principles through clear, accessible education initiatives.
- Developing and implementing business wide comms on data governance and remediation actions
- Support updates to enterprise‑wide data privacy and information governance policies.
- Ensure consistency of policies across domains and alignment with regulatory expectations.
- Partner with technology to develop and assure technical controls to support compliance of updated regulatory expectations
- Act as a trusted advisor to the business on data privacy and compliance matters.
- Provide guidance on the rules, standards, and best practices that must be followed across the organisation.
- Contribute to ongoing audit activities to ensure data is removed and access is revoked at appropriate times.
- Identify gaps and propose improvements to strengthen compliance.
- Ownership of target operating model for information controls
- Help shape the long‑term vision of data lifecycle and privacy tools, with a view to potentially becoming the Product Owner for related platforms or capabilities.
- Investigate information‑related issues to identify root causes and drive corrective and preventative actions.
- Define the KPI’s and metrics
- Work with business and technical partner to develop reporting capabilities
- Ongoing reporting at appropriate governance forums
